I <3 smoothies. I think they’re a great way to sneak pesky vegetables into a great tasting, filling drink! I usually make smoothies every morning and share them with all of you on my Facebook or on the blog! Like the Taste of The Tropics Smoothie recipe I posted or the Spring Detox Smoothie with coconut, chia and flax seeds.
Recently, my Mother-in-Law got a NutriBullet, and she absolutely loves it. I use my trusty original Magic Bullet, but if you want to take a step up from the Magic Bullet, I’d definitely recommend the NutriBullet. She says it’s super easy to clean, takes up very little space and works in seconds!
So now that she’s part of the Bullet family, she’s been whipping up some pretty amazing smoothies, too. She brought one over this morning that I just needed to share with all of you. It’s unique and packed (I mean PACKED) with amazing ingredients like carrots, ginger and parsley, all known for flushing out and detoxing the body and helping with inflammation. I named this one after my Mother-in-law 🙂
Gerry’s Zesty Ginger Anti-Inflammatory Detox Smoothie
- 1 Large Carrot
- 1 Green Apple
- 1 Medium Cup Ginger Tea (I Use Tazo)
- Parsley (To Taste)
- 1 Celery Stalk
- Handful Blueberries
- Handful Strawberries
- Brew a full cup of ginger tea in a tea pot or coffee maker. (We use the Keurig. It's quick and great for just one cup of tea or coffee)
- Cut up the carrot, apple and celery into small sized, manageable pieces.
- Add carrots, apples, blueberries, strawberries and celery. into the blender.
- Add in the parsley. Pour the ginger tea on top and blend until desired consistency.
Tip: I try to always choose organic produce. It can sometimes get expensive, especially when buying organic from a conventional supermarket where organic is not the norm.
But this is very important for my overall health. If I am going to take the time to treat my body right, I don’t want risky pesticides getting in the way of that.
I would recommend trying out a company like Sun Basket, where they deliver fresh and organic produce and other ingredients right to your door and it ends up being most cost efficient for you.
